Topic tags/keywords: question jointer

Hello All,

I know this topic was covered here already and I will continue looking for it but so far haven’t been able to find a solution. The situation is that the out feed table on my Delta jointer droops about 13/100ths of an inch so I am unable to properly joint my boards.

I tried to adjust the gibs and was able to lift the table even, but then could not get it to stay there the table would still droop, less but still droop. It almost seems like there should be shims or something on the dovetails to raise up the outer end of the table…where or how I would put them in is I guess the question I am looking to answer. Any help is sure appreciated!

Mark

You probably need to use some shims … you can buy shims from a number of online sources, but some use aluminum strips cut from a soda or beer can.

This might help … http://www.craftkb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/woodworking/17256/How-to-shim-jointer-outfeed-table

Thanks for the recommendation about shims.

I eventually got it sorted out but I will start to look around for some shim material. One of the downsides about not drinking a lot of pop (or other canned beverages) is that I don’t have any cans kicking around to scavenge for shims :-)
