I’m finishing up a SCMS bench. About 8’ long with a solid 3/4” plywood back. The back will be exposed and I want to hang a hinged shelf on it to hold a bench grinder, belt/disc sander and a 1” strip sander.
I’m leaning towards a HD continuous hinge with a folding set of supports.
Does anybody have any other suggestions?
Thanks folks.

Sounds like you’ve got it pretty well scoped out Gene. If the folding supports are as I envision them you might put a stub dowel in the outer end of each facing up that indexes into a hole in the bottom of the shelf as a lock against “accidents”, but you probably already had that covered. .... I bet I know what the belt sander and strip sander look like too.
