Rather than revamping the whole site would it be possible to simply add a line (prominently) to this page giving the simple fix for the picture orientation problem some people keep having?
As far as I know a simple little edit like a small crop after rotating fixes the problem but if there is a better one use it.
Maybe if it was prominently displayed here we wouldn’t have to keep repeating the instructions every time a sideways photo comes up.

Great idea Paul.
I hope they are listening.

I am always listening. (grin)

The programming platform here doesn’t give me an option to place a sticky thread or notice to one section. I will see what other options I have.

Ya know some of us have a hard time trying to figure out how to even take a Picture? Whats all this talk about editing?
Hey bet there might be some engineer type folks around, they always know everything about everything! LOL!

Grandsons are good for this kind of stuff. If you don’t have a grandson or granddaughter just borrow one for a few minutes. What you are talking about would be a lot easier and quicker than having to delete, fix and repost.

Photos can be rotated in your camera. Picture this:
On the infrequent occasion that I take a photo with my iPhone to post in a Forum, I post it, then look at it. If it’s a portrait where I wanted a landscape, I hit the Edit button, remove the photo, go back into my iPhone’s camera, rotate it, then re-load it. Photos I post in Projects/Blogs always go through my editing software, where their orientation is corrected.

My point is not how to fix sideways photos. That is simple.
It is about where to post instructions for people who need the advice.

It seems every other day someone is complaining that their photo was arbitrarily rotated by the forum software. I think it would be just super if posters could be informed that their image file needs modifying a little bit instead.

Or for a small fee this site could hire me to turn photos to the correct orientation when they are posted wrong.
