Hey guys I have a skil brand electric hand plane that I played with one day and have not used it since. If anyone needs one I would trade it for some hand planes or chisels or anything else you may have. It’s still brand new.

I have always wondered if those things were good for anything. The fact that your giving it up so quickly makes me think no. Good luck with the exchange but I thnk the people around here would rather keep thier hand tools. I would suggest trying craigslist. Someone will buy it.

FWIW – - I have an electric hand plane that I use very little. I find it handy when I am working as a carpenter (e.g. getting a door to fit properly) but I have never used it when I am in woodworking mode.

If anyone has ever considered getting one let me offer a warning – - It can take off a lot of material in a hurry and you have to be very careful to not “over shoot”” your mark.

Well both of you guys are right. I didn’t mess with it enough to learn how to use it properly but it really doesn’t have much of a use in the woodworking shop. It would be useful to a carpenter and most that I know keep one with them. They are useful tools but you have to have the specific need for them.

Have your say...
