I haven’t built it yet, but I have ordered the plan. One thing to keep in mind with the NYW plans is that they are really measured drawings, not really full plans. They advertise them this way, but some people are still surprised when they get them and there is very little in the way of written instructions that come with it. They are meant to compliment the original show. I’ve got the episode in question saved on my TiVo for when I get start (and it is one they play pretty frequently) but on another NYW project I built I never was able to watch the show (some of the older ones are only offered on vhs and I don’t even have one anymore). As measured drawings, they are quite good. In all but the most trivial cases they provide either cutting diagrams or instructions on how to cut the pieces out. The parts lists are complete and they do a pretty good job of showing how the pieces go together. -- Tom, Southwest Florida |

I agree with Tom’s assessment. I have ordered a couple of plans and had no trouble following them. The video is simply a repeat of the show. I didn’t find that the video gave me a lot of detail for the project. But I haven’t bought the router table plan. -- With God's help all things are possible- even woodworking. Woodworking is not just a hobby, it is an (expletive deleted) expensive hobby. |

I made a NYW style router table. I didn’t use any plans though. I just followed his basic design but You can see it in my workshop pictures: http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/GaryK/workshop -- Gary, East TX -- The longest journey begins with a single step. |

I’ve got the plans too, but haven’t gotten to it yet. I’ve seen a lot of shop pics with this router table, or something very close to it, in the shops. Just like Tom said measured drawings and a dvd of the show. I’m looking forward to getting it done though as the table I have now is not so good. I’ll post mine once it’s number comes up in the great list of things to build next… -- Jim Hallada, Chesterfield, VA |

I got the plans for original router table Norm did, and built it without any problems, although I did make some slight modifications. It works great, I used melamine for the fences and the table top to make it easy to slide the pieces into and out of the bits. The plans are easy to follow and I taped the show so I could refer to it at times, I found it useful while building the table. I think the Delux Router Table plans he sells now has a few more bells and whistles than the one I built, but I like mine. -- Sawhorse - Sulphur Springs, TX - www.sawhorseworkshop.com |
