When I found out that we were going to be the proud parents of our first baby I decided I would build the crib and this is what I chose.

The nursery is about 10’x10’ so I devised a plan to make the top of the built-in cabinet be the changing table. Yesterday morning I was able to finish building the base, get showered, eat and head off to the doctor for the first ultrasound. It’s a good thing they have chairs in there for the dads because that is when I saw that we were going to be the proud parents of our first TWO babies!!!

Now that I have gotten to brag about all that I am searching for a simpler crib design that is smaller and could possibly be squeezed into our cramped nursery. Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated. My wife says we don’t need 2 cribs until about 4 months old, but I am not seeing a lot of woodworking time in my near future…

go to the libraery or Chapters

I did

I sure wish I knew where that cradle was that so many years ago sat beneath my bed with each and every baby God gave to me.

I sure remember reaching down and pushing the rocker on the cradle

I remember it being poetry in motion as my babies fell fast asleep

surely your new generation is worth more then “google”

Just putting the finishing touches on this one. It is a bit large, but is both floor and stand rocker.
My design, but it is quite easy to build.

As a mother of 3 and a grandma of 5 I must warn you that the little buggers grow very quickly! You may consider a large crib at first and they can share until you need another one.

Congratulations, and you are right that you will probably not have any time for woodworking once the babies are born. After all the only time that you would have is when they are asleep and that is precisely the time that you will not be able to make any noise!!!! Besides you will want to sleep then too.

Why not make two of the same crib in the link.

Another possibility would be to make the crib in the plan with a modification. The plan shows a crib and storage cabinet. Add another crib on the other side of the storage cabinet. The storage cabinet would be sandwiched between the two attached cribs. Size the entire project to fit the wall.

Good luck with your project and your new family.
