I want to build a display case for my rock collection. My thoughts are to build it like a standing jewelry box without the necklace holders on the side. I have looked on line and can’t seem to find a pattern that is anywhere close to that.

Any ideas????

Thank you.

I was thinking 18 to 24 inches wide and maybe 3 feet high??? Not particular but I want drawers all down it to put rocks in.

Kathy Norm Abrams built a jewellery chest with lift up lid & drawers with novelty secret drawer in the base it is smaller than yoiu require but it has nice proportions & would scale up easily. Hope it helps

I built my wifes floss cabinet with narrow draws on that order. I took a bookcase plan and added drawers instead of shelves, its about those dimensions.

You may also consider a display coffee table for some of your pretty more favorite specimens.

How about a display case made of bandsawn boxes. Your could make a row of the boxes at a time and then stack each row to gain the height that you want. I think that it would give a very organic look to a very organic collection. By the way I think your bandsawn boxes are quite beautiful. You have a real talent for them.

Woodcraft magazine last April had a collectors showcase. Not quite the vertical format you want, but pretty nice. PM me if you want a copy of the article.
