Topic tags/keywords: oak question finishing

I’m a newbe to woodworking and wanting to do a project with live edge. I have a piece of red oak and I’m making a coffee table. Does live edge need to be sealed or could I leave it in its natural form?

Any wood can be left unfinished. Lacking a
finish a wood is more vulnerable to stains
and it gets a little dirty as dust lodges in
the pores. Leaving a live edge unfinished
is not something I would expect to cause
problems.
