I’m trying to assembly a dust collection system for chip collection and fine dust, fine dust being my major concern.

Any recommendations for sourcing just the blower motor assembly? I don’t need all of the additional bags and filters that come with the HF or Jet set ups.

I’ll be venting outdoors and plan to order a cyclone for chip separation. 110VAC is preferred due to not having room on my panel to add another 220 circuit. Worst case scenario, I unplug my compressor and plug in the DC system. I plan to use 6” PVC lines for venting and will reduce down to 4” flex lines for tool connection. Current plan is for one suction line and to connect it to each tool when needed but, who knows if that will change in the future.

I don’t want to waste money on things I’ll throw into the recycle bin and craigslist in my area doesn’t have much.

Try seaarching for “Dust Collector” instead of “Dust Collection”

I’m in Bulverde Area if you want to come look anytime before you get started.

Steve, do you have a DIY DC system? Not being a smart a—but not sure what you are offering me to look at.

KUFO is an Asian import that sells through HD and Walmart.

Hi Tim,

Yes I have a DIY system. I bought a Jet Blower from Craigslist in Austin and use a Super Dust Deputy with exhaust thru the wall. I just completely rebuilt it and it works great.

This is about what my blower is like. It can be wired 120 or 240. I can definitely help with that. I think he is asking to much for this one, but you may be able to bargain it down.

Steve, what size SDD did you use for your system?

I ended up purchasing a Shop Fox system off of Amazon’s Warehouse Deals. I’m going to use the blower and try selling the rest

Hi Tim, Glad to hear you found a blower. I used the Super Dust Deputy, Standard size, I bought it locally at Woodcrafters because it seems to be the same price no matter where I looked.

I started with an Eagle 20 Gallon container from Amazon,

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LDEP0C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But I ended up getting a larger one just to give me more time between emptying it. I still have the original one if you want it. You are welcome to have it for free to try first.

This is the one I have now,

https://www.amazon.com/Eagle-1655MBBG-Nestable-Metal-Plastic/dp/B00U2N8N4U/ref=sr_1_8?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1493754182&sr=1-8&keywords=eagle+55+gallon+drum

I still use a 20 Gallon one with a standard dust deputy for my shop vac. This works great for my Randon Orbital Sander and for my “Over-the-blade” dust collector/guard on my table saw. Sometimes you need less CFM and WAY more suction than the big Dust Collector uses.

Have your say...
