I am new to this forum and would appreciate in advance any and everyone who would try to help me with a few questions.

I have an older model 20” Rockwell vertical bandsaw. It has a 3 horsepower Baldor electric motor on it. I also have it configured with a Powematic PF-41 feeder. I have the Powermatic feeder set up in it’s slowest rate which is 6’ per minute if I am correct. I am currently attempting to resaw 1” thick reclaimed barnwood into 3/8” thick skins.

Question 1 – What blade would be recommended to use with it? I have been using a Munkfors 1.25” x 0.041×7/8 Pitch blade which I buy 10 in a box at a time for approximately $17.50 each. the blades are 150” and it appears there is 1 tooth per inch on the blades. We go over each board with a magnet and hardly ever miss a nail. But when we do the blade is shot when we hit it. I am hoping there is a good carbide toothed blade that would be better. We hardly ever hit a nail and they are rusted pretty well all the way thru but as I said the type blades I am using are pretty well toast even on a soft rusty nail. I know I am going to have to pay much more for a good blade but feel it would be worth it especially when you factor in the time it takes to change the blade and reset everything.

Question 2 – What blade speed would be good with the setup I described. My motor has two pulleys of varying sizes I can use. The motor pulley itself is available in 4” and a 5”. The top pulleys are 7 1/2” and 9”. The motor is a 3 hp Baldor with 1750 RPM that is set up on 220. What configuration would work best resawing the reclaimed barnwood?

Question 3 – My saw is missing the blade insert. It is 3” wide and all I can find is 2 1/2” replacements. Carter does not have anything larger than the 2 1/2”. Where could I find one at?

Question 4 – Has anyone used any of the Powermatic feeders in resawing on a bandsaw? I have mine set on the lowest possible feed speed but it still seems to crowd the blade especially if anything is less than perfectly set.

Again I want to give thanks in advance for any and all possible help
