Somewhere I saw a serving tray with bent wood handles. I’m want similar handles for a fruit bowl I’m making. I don’t remember where I saw it so I don’t know how it was done.
I’ll try to describe it more accurately. The end result looks like one strip about 1/2” thick by about 3/4” wide. It’s really several thin strips glued together. After formed and glued up, the handles ran flat under the tray from one end of to the other. At both ends, the wood bended up and rotated. If you were looking it straight on, it would look like a “U”. From the side, it would look like a “n”. How would I do this?
Without advice, I guess I’ll cut several strips down to 1/4” thick or less. If they are not pliable, I’ll steam them. I’ll probably make a fixture to hold it secure for glue-up.
Hopefully I’ll get some advice from you guys before I start.
