Our General International 50-240GT M1 motor needed a new part (Part number 50240244). I called General International and they said that the manufacturer of this motor for this model is now out of business and we cannot get a new part.

Has anyone run into this issue with the 50 240GT M1 model and what can be done?

To replace the saw in our cabinet shop is not really an option that we want to explore as it’s all hooked up. But it seems to get it rewinded is almost the same cost as a new saw.

I asked around and I’ve been told that you can’t simple put in another motor in this model. Is this true?

What exactly is the part you need? Closest I can find in the parts diagram is 50240-244… is that what you are looking for? If so, that’s just a common spring pin (listed size as 4×22mm) and should be a pretty standard hardware store item. If you can’t find it locally, there are dozens of places you can get it online – it’s not a General International specific part (or specific to the motor manufacturer) by any means.

Cheers,
Brad
