I am interested in making a few wine balancers as Christmas gifts. What angle does the bas need to be to balance a full bottle of wine? Don’t know if they are truelly called wine balancers but thats the only name I can think of to call them.

Thanks

I used 45 degrees for mine and then fine tuned the angle until it balanced just right. Till I was finished, the angle was right around 48 degrees. The placement of the bottle is what really makes it balance, so experiment.

Here’s a link to previous thread on wine tilts / balancers. Includes some dimensions and discussion.

Cool project, I think I’ll try some. Can anyone suggest some ways to make the chamfered/rounded edge on the hole without using a router? I haven’t got router skill yet.

If you have a drill press, chuck up a small sanding drum and tilt the table. If not, hand file and follow it up with sand paper.

Great idea, Brian, thanks! I haven’t gotten to play with tilting my drill press table yet :)

Don’t forget the warning label that the balancer should not be used in areas subject to seismic activity. ;-)
