So I happened to stop at my local harbor freight today. I found something that caught my eye. It is a magnetic LED light for $10 (only $8 if you use a 20% off coupon). It makes a great addition to my drill press. The magnet is strong on it so it stays in place as long as your mounting it to a flat surface. I figured I’d pass this along in case anyone is in search of a drill press light.

Well it cast a shadow, this makes a better DP light.

Yes there is some shadowing, but since there are 6 different LEDs all at different positions, the shadowing is very minimal. A huge improvement from no light at all!

It fell flat, but I had really high hopes for this light. It’s decently bright with new batteries, the magnets are plenty strong, and it has a good range of motion, but the batteries seem to die fast, the switch and overall construction feel cheap. I would be happy with this light for under $10, but I will never think it is worth more than that. My concept is the real test will be how long it lasts since that’s the problem with the cheap product.

I know about MyLight HL000002 HUGlight Pro LED Hands-Free Magnetic Task Light. It’s great bcuz of the intensity of the light & it’s hands-free, which is great when working with a car or motorcycle engine or other dark areas.
