Tommy Mac’s replacement is…
My #1 choice would be Matt Cremona need I comment?
https://www.youtube.com/user/mcremona?&ab_channel=MatthewCremona
The Wood Whisperer might have been my choice, but when he appeared, on an episode with Tommy Mac he came across to me as a sidekick not a replacement.
My #2 choice would have been Stumpy Nubs, but as Stumpy in the earlier days; a Canadian “Red Green” but as an American wood worker. I miss the old format.
My #3- Jay Bates Thanks for the memories…
Please share your replacement woodworker to fill the void of Tommy Mac

How about a Lumberjock? Plenty of talented people on this site.

I agree that it should be someone from Lumberjocks. Maybe even a1jim. You have to admit he’s pretty much the voice for Lumberjocks. He has 40-50 years woodworking experience and teaches woodworking. Since he teaches he can probably handle the pressure of an audience. What do you think Jim? Can we as a group of 192,000 strong submit your name to PBS? You’d have to polish up your resume and interviewing. Maybe even put a portfolio together. In fact, just use your projects pages…over 40 projects completed. The more I think about it the more I like it. What say you all? Should we submit a1jim’s name?

I agree that Papadan and A1 Jim would be good representatives from Lumberjocks- I have have had my differences with both of them and this is a forum- I hope they accept your kudos. Put me on the list of 192,000.

If there is a replacement it will probably be someone who appeals to millennials. There is someone who is already woodworking famous and has a large multi generational following especially among Y gen and experience on television. He’s pretty busy at the moment but who knows.

good point- from what I see in the school system the traditional woodshop is fading but not lost. They use 3d printers, laser and cnc… technology-with their projects. I like this Canadian building a Millenial toy with standard woodworking tools-

My nominee is Paul Sellers. I like his simple solutions and clear explanations.

Red and green one of the great shows. I’m going to say a female replacement would be nice. There are plenty out there and that would help bring in and or boost other demographics to the hobby. You can’t replace Norm or Roy but I think you can redo their shows since they have left out a lot of genres of woodworking.

Just found this thread. I appreciate the thought, but my health would prohibit me from any kind of full time work.

Have your say...
