Hey, not sure which forum was appropriate so I put this here, but does anyone have an email or phone number for John Walter, the guy who wrote the Stanley Tool guide (https://www.amazon.com/Antique-Collectible-Stanley-Tools-Identity/dp/1878911023/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8 or his website at http://stanleytoolsbook.com/)? He says there’s a new edition coming out this month but I’ve read that that’s inaccurate. I sent him the SASE as he requests but never received a reply. I don’t want to get the second edition for north of $150 if I can get a new one. Any info is appreciated!

Here’s the message from John Walter’s site:
Please note: many readers sent in SASE’s years ago or sent emails to me at The Old Tool Shop in Marietta, Ohio—wanting to be contacted when a new edition is ready. I regret to inform those readers, that much of that information was lost or ruined when the Ohio river rose up 44 feet over it’s banks and flooded out the historic downtown riverfront district.

Thanks for that. I’ve seen his site but it’s been saying that for quite a while and he doesn’t have an email or number posted, so snail mail is it and I tried that and he didn’t reply. Thanks.

The fact that the site has been updated is a good sign. I was getting updated every January with similar info. At least we know he’s still at it.

If it’s any consolation, it took me about three tries before the SASE didn’t get a “return to sender” because the address he had posted was wrong.

Thanks for the post, I guess I’ll just wait and hope for word from John. Mine didn’t come back, but he doesn’t reply so it’s hard to know if he received it.

I met John back in the mid 90s, and he wasn’t a spring chicken then. How old is he by now

I’ve heard or read on his site that at times he’s had health issues, so I hope he is well.
