I’ve got a powermatic 66 tablesaw that I’d like to get a rectangular extension wing for. I’ve built one, but would still like cast iron for another foot or so. I found the TA70, but it is for the left side (rounded corners). I can find a bunch of ones for OTHER saws, but they are all for 27” tables (PM66 is a 28” table).

I’ve seen references to them (page 13 here, #15: http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/655/837.pdf), but cannot seem to find the right keywords to search and find one. The number (3186011) in that document doesn’t seem to have anyone listing on ebay.

There is a pair of TA70 wings for sale over at the OWWM site (in the BOYD section) for $70 (or just one for $40). Those do have rounded corners though (they all do). There are a few others there as well, even a 28×28 rectangular one with square corners for $50, but it has a router cutout. Also, you can certainly use a 27” wing, just leave it an inch short at the back – won’t make any difference to the wood.

Cheers,
Brad

Ah, thanks for the suggestion on OWWM! I searched over there and found this one: http://owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=173889&p=1189281&hilit=powermatic+extension#p1189281

Which was in my backyard, but sadly sold. That said, I see the “TA” number on the bottom, but cannot make it out. Ebay search on just TA-73/76/78 are all for nought, but I guess I’ll keep looking.

Thanks!

Both the left and right wings on my PM66 have rounded corners on the outside, they came from the factory that way.

Yeah, they seem to have reduced the choices on extensions over the past 20-30 years. Older saws had square ones available forthe right side.
