I’m new to this forum. I’m an auctioneer by trade.I recently was unpacking and setting up for our upcoming auction and came across around 200 hand planers some are wooden. Also a dozen or so wooden levels. We would like to market these on the most part outside of the auction,we will try to post pictures up as soon as possible and or a link.We are located in N.E.Iowa.Any feedback would be great.

Welcome to LJs burke. Would love to see some of those pics. It might be hard to get meaningful pics of a group that large… you might try grouping them by size or type. Pics of the top front, and a shot of the back that shows the tote and back of the frog are often the most telling about what it is….any obvious defects should be show too.

An auctioneer needs advice on selling? Aw c’mon, you’re pulling our collective leg!

As one in east central Iowa, I might be quite interested in what you have to offer.

Please see and click on “first part of Dec. tool and yard auction”, if you click on the arrows at the top it provides numerous pictures of planers, tools that go on our auction. Select items will be for sale prior to the auction: planers and wood levels.

Added new website to upcoming auction, tools some collectables can sell prior to sale. Go to and click on dec. tool sale and there are pics and listings.
