Greetings all:

A couple of days ago I got my new issue of Woodworkers Journal, and they had included a DVD with it.
It is called Readers’ Favorites: Workshop Projects. It has a picture of (I think) Frank Klaus standing by his workbench. I said “Alright, another woodworking flick”... Put it in my DVD player…. nothing… Put it in another player….. nothing….blank…. Then I tried playing it even on my computer…then it came up and said “This is not compatiable”..... So I tried the first DVD…same thing…not compatable!!!! What a pisser….If they knew it wouldn’t play, or was blank, why do they send this crap out with your magazine to begin with? So…. I have no idea what’s on the disc… If any one got this disc, I hope you have better luck than I did…. Ripped off…

Edit: Don’t know wheather it makes any difference or not, but just noticed the copyright date is 2009….

Might just be a bad disc. Maybe even a bad production run. I happens.

I agree with Topamax. I have gotten a bad disk before – not from WWJ but from another mag. I emailed them and got a replacement disc, it took a couple of weeks but the new one worked fine.
The copyright date shouldn’t have anything to do with it. Check on their website, they may already know about it.

Yea…..I figure that’s what happened….. They may of ran a bunch and didn’t know it… Well.. it’s no big deal.
Since I didn’t have to buy it outright, and it’s probably got the same imfo on it that the book has. I was just curious as to who may have gotten a bad one besides me…...I fugured the copyright date had no affect….

Rick: I get WWJ but didn’t get a disk(thank ggodness) I got one a few months ago unsolicited so I didn’t bother to send it or a check back. They finally quit bugging me after about 4 months. (G)!
Actually WWJ is one of my better ones though.

Thanks Howie…..... it’s a good thing you didn’t get one, cause this thing is fried!!!!! It was just packaged with the book. I guess they had to get rid of the crappy things somehow, so they just put in and mailed them out…. That’s bad publicity if you ask me…....Someone will call them down on I’m sure.. Someone need to..
Yes, I agree…..I enjoy WWJ and have taken it for years….Someone just dropped the ball somewhere…

There was a disc in the last issue of American Woodworker that I bought, same thing. 6 Top issues of the last 25 years for FREE!

Sure, the picture looks nice… it won’t play.

Evening Greg: It really doesn’t matter if I get a new one or not. I’ve probably read everything in my magazines that are on the disc…... No big deal. I got so much crap now to read I’ll never get caught up…

Smoked fish???? OMG….who eats smoked fish? Here in the South we deep-fry our fish in cornmeal..uuummm. Bunch of hushpuppies, taters, and a big ole purple onion!!!! Now that’s Southern eatin’.

Greg: Nothing to it really… Just roll the fillets in cornmeal, a little salt and pepper, maybe a favorite spice you like for flavor, and you good to go…..uumm uumm…making me hongrey now… now drop the fillets in hot oil(either peanut or vegetable oil) will work….

hushpuppies: cornmeal, an egg, a little bit of flour, chopped oinion, and a 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, and milk to keep it thick enough to stay together when you drop it in HOT oil…same oil you fried the fish in. That’s it.

Haven’t you heard…..you can’t build a fire in the snow!!!!? It don’t take a fisherman to cook that grub….
Sounds like you may have to come down to the South to get that good redneck home cooking…..good excuse to get out of Ohio…. Biggest damn snow storm I was ever in was in Springfield….snowed 3+ feet while I was there….. it sucked bigtime, cause we couldn’t go anywhere….. I was glad to leave…..

No, it wasn’t 3 years ago…This was about 1983-84 when that happened….I was living in Memphis, Tn at the time…..My mother called and said my sister and brother-in-law had been in a very bad car wreck. She flew in from Ft.Worth, Tx, I picked her up at the airport in my motorhome, and we took off. This was in January. It just started snowing when we got to the hospital, and it snowed for 2 weeks straight. My sister had a broke neck, b-i-l was banged up, but ok…..damnest snow I ever saw. Now I know how a polarbear feels…
Yea…. I’m wth you on BBQing in the winter. I just don’t cook fish on it. Maybe some coon or possum fillets.
