G,day folks, hoping you can help me out here. While cleaning out a barn I have found a lathe under a tarp. There is minor surface rust but a lil oil and elbow grease should sort it out. So far searches have turned up empty. Here what I could find written on it. It is bright orange and appears to have a foot mechanism on it and these markings. Akron product > Martin Creasey Comp > Larvic Lathe > and in the model box I think it said > “AKRON MAJOR” There are also Union Jack stickers. All I know about lathes I learned in shop class 40 years ago. Any help wound be great thanks.

Thanks, yep that’s the type I have found. Other than some light surface rust it looks new. Would it be useful to anyone or just a conversation piece?

A big round of applause goes out to Mr. Large. After reading the description posted in TheDane’s link, the lathe was designed and well thought out. Kills 2 birds with one stone. Thanks for sharing the link, Gerry.

Stephen, if you’re a turner, keep it. If not, I’m sure you will find a buyer, ............. Jerry (in Tucson)
