I plan to make a mirror frame out of red oak with brass powder inlayed with CA glue. I normally use Old Masters oil based polyurethane to finish my wood. However, since I do not want my brass to discolor or tarnish, will the polyurethane finish alone keep it from tarnishing? If not, should I apply the brass lacquer first, then the polyurethane or vice versa? This is new territory for me. I plan to use Behle/Mohawk brand brass lacquer. Thanks for any input!

Poly will seal it from any air getting to it and causing any tarnish.
