Hi fellow LJs.

I am considering making a trip to the Grizzly showroom in MO. It is about a day’s drive (long day). Just wondering if most tools are in stock and if they ever have scratch & dent items at times other than the tent sales. It is not about saving the shipping charges, as my time is worth more than two days of driving and fuel. It is more about the experience and if I can get a lower price, even better.

Waiting for your input, and thanks in advance.

Scott, I have never been, but here is a link to a review and a bunch of comments. It looks like it would be worth the drive, especially if something follows you home. :)

My wife took me several years ago for our 30th wedding anniversary. I had a great time there full of tool lust. The best part was when I checked out they asked my zip code and said are you Bob? I’d like to go back again it was a great experience.

I have been there three times. (On my way back from Wisconsin) and purchased something each time. I also made a one day trip each way there and back just to buy something. Was it cost effective? No, but a hobby is supposed to cost money. It was a nice outing for my wife and me. No sales that I saw but they did give me a free hat. Wonderful showroom!

It is definitely worth the trip if you have the chance. I used to live 45 minutes from there and had to avoid going there as I always ended up leaving with something.

If you go online and check if something is in stock, chances are that they will have it there, if you have something in mind. There also is a room off to the side with scratch and dents but I’ve never been all that impressed as there was never anything in there I had been in need of or wanting.

If there is something substantial you want it is definitely worth it. You can call ahead to see if it’s in stock. They do have some small sale items, but large tools is hit or miss as far as scratch and dent. If you just want to see an impressive showroom it is probably worth it. I buy biscuits and sandpaper when I go in there. Additionally you can stop in at Bass Pro. It’s impressive even if you don’t hunt or fish. Then you can stay a few extra nights and head down to Branson, only 45 minutes south. While there, eat at Lamberts Home of the Throwed Rolls.

My wife and I drove up and rented a condo on Table Rock lake for the weekend a while back. Then Monday morning headed up to Springfield for the pilgrimage to Grizzly. It’s a 5.5 hr drive for me. Not worth it on it’s own in my opinion, but as apart of a lake weekend, Oh yeah, well worth the trip. Good weekend.
