Topic tags/keywords: question

I’m thinking about buying a jointer from Grizzly; most of the reviews I’ve read are positive; to avoid the crazy cross-border shipping costs, I would ship it to a store just across the border (about 45min from my house), and then pay the taxes as I come back into Canada. My fear though, is that if I have any problems with the jointer, I’ll be stuck either having to arrange shipping back across the border, or trying to have Grizzly ship parts across the border to me. I know that Grizzly has a great reputation for customer service, but I’m curious what other Canadian’s experience with Grizzly is. Any Canadian LJ’s that have dealt with Grizzly?
Thanks!

Instead of asking us, why not ask Grizzly? They’ll be far more knowledgeable about issues than we will.

I agree that asking Grizzly is the first step but many companies will tell you one thing and then when you deal with them it is totally different. I also am curious to hear if someone had first hand experience with this same situation. About 2 years ago I wanted to order from Grizzly but at the time they did not ship to Canada becasue of an agreement with BusyBeeTools. Apparently things have changed.

I have bought a bandsaw from them but had no problems so I can’t answer for teh service. I did have it shipped just south of the line and picked it up. Just be careful that you are not over your limit at the line because I hear the duty on asian stuff is very high.

I bought a bandsaw this summer and Grizzly shipped it from Washington State to British Columbia.
It was no problem other than arranging for me to be around for the delivery time.
I will definitely consider another Griz product and ship it up….too much time and border hassle for me to bring it over myself.

Like twokidsnosleep I just recently ordered a BS from Grizzley and let them ship it to me in the Shuswap Lake area of BC. Grizzley picked up the brokerage fee and shipped via UPS freight. I had no problems whatsoever and will definitely deal with them again.
