Topic tags/keywords: wood-a-holic humor

I cried (a little) today after seeing a Greene & Greene chest. The wood grain was so beautiful, and the piece was so perfect, that it brought a tear to my eye. Maybe it brought back a childhood memory, maybe I had too much coffee. I don’t know. One thing for sure is when I see something built that well, I get seriously emotional. Not sad, but so happy that a feel something so deep in me that I have to comment, or (literally run) to the shop to build something. I got that way recently when I thought about my last build (Tiny Box) for my wife. I love her, and wood. Especially veneers like sapelle pomele, birds eye maple, makore,, mahogany, etc. I treasure my collection of stacks of veneer that I buy at every woodworking show. Addicted maybe, But when I put a finish on them, and the grain POPS, I feel something good. I read most of the comments that we all post, and some of us write what I feel. I can only thank those that inspire me. CharlieM1958, the Don’, Andy, Ms Debbie, GaryK, the wood-whisperer dude. and all my buddies on my buddy list. Woodworking offers me a way of dealing with the trauma of Gulf war duty, and I love this escape. I constantly tell my self “get over it” and build something because of it. I am recommending myself as Wood-a-holics Unanimous President. A condition that will never be cured. I’ve asked Charlie to be Vise-P, because I believe he feels that way too. There are 26,000 positions in this affiliation, no dues, no meetings, lots of titles. Chancellor, Emperor, Chair, (pun intended), Duke, Baroness, and “Count” -less other titles, you pick it. There can be multiple titles, multiple positions. What is yours…...................?

-- so much wood, so little time. Bradford. Wood-a-holics unanimous president
