Wireless dog fence from ecollars.com??

I have the wireless from Petsafe. I purchased two of the sending units so my 3 outside dogs could go completely around my house and into the yard. It works very well. I live in a heavily wooded area so the wired was not an option. Once I got my dogs used to the boundary I only have to check the battery in the collars about once a month. If it gives out before I recheck it’s usually not a problem because they don’t discover it for a few weeks. Had it for about 6 years and have had to replace the collars once. This crew plays so hard they tear each others collars off.

I installed a wireless system for the smartest pooch I have ever owned. neighbors used to complain that my dog was doing this and that on thier lawn, thus the wireless fence.

Weeks went by and I thought all was well until one day a neighbor said my dog was up to his usaul tricks.

Turns out the dog learned how to turn the system on and off.

%*&^%$#&% dog could unlock doors, gates, you name it,.............eventually I had to padlock him into a kennel with roof and concrete slab. Sadly I returned one day to see the lock cut off and the dog was gone.

Hey Don, we have a petsafe for our lab, some of our neighbors have them as well. The dogs rarely break through, yes some times they do when they get excited but rarely. We went wireless for because its really rocky so its hard to dig anywhere, no problems with the unit at all. Good luck.

So far the only negetive thing I have heard is someone had a metal outbuilding that interferred with the signal and created a dead spot…. not a problem for me..

So to update.

The wireless fence arrived about a week ago from ecollars.

Good news/bad news kinda story.

It was quite late by the time I arrived back home from picking the package up from town, read the instructions, set up the two transmitters and fit Max with the collar.

I did manage to walk the road side boundary to see where it was, he now has about fifteen feet less than the wire system toward the road but more room on the sides and back of the house.

Supper and to bed early not giving a thought to the fact Max was still wearing the collar.

Around four in the morning he makes a big commotion about “going out”, not an unusual occurrence and not something I mind considering the alternative <grin>

So I open the back door and off he goes chasing a neighbors dog. Then I realize he’s headed out the driveway with the collar on.

By the time I got to the front door he’s past the boundary and sitting in the middle of the driveway looking back towards the house.

Me bad, not the best way to reintroduce him to the system, sigh..

We looked at each other for a few minutes before I whistled, he gingerly slinked through the boundary area and then came running to me.

The nice thing about the new wireless is when the dog is facing the transmitter there is no beep or correction. With the old system if the dog leaves the area, he will get corrected AGAIN when he comes back…

So far one happy customer.

Update,

Very pleased with this system, Max has adjusted to the new boundary and I love the maintenance free aspect.
