Good morning to all. My father in law recently bought these tools and cant figure out what they are. Was wondering if anyone has any idea of what they might be and if they are in fact a woodworking clamp. Any info would be awesome!!

I think they might be veneer clamps.

They look like horseshoes!

Is there a brand name on them or are they home-made? Papadan may be correct.

Steam bending or bent lamination clamps. Saw a picture of the WWII PT boats being made and they were pounding plywood into submission on the boats frame with clamps like that.

Wow, that would be pretty cool if so. Do you know where I could find this picture you speak of?

You might do some searching for the Higgins Boat. Those were the landing craft used in WWII built in New Orleans during the war. Two years ago the National WWII Museum in New Orleans was in the process of rebuilding a Higgins Boat. That might be a starting point. Good Luck!

Primmer, if you want to pay for my admission, I’ll run over there to investigate and take some photos, 2 blocks away :)
