Topic tags/keywords: r4511 35990c steel city table saw

Is the new steel city table saw 35990c the same saw as the ridgid r 4511. They look extremely similar and it seemed like everyone said that the r4511 was made by steelcity. I ask this because I am in the market for a nice table saw under $650. And everyone seems to really like the r4511. The new steelcity saw sure seems to have a lot to offer @ $600? Your thoughts?

yes it seems to be the same saw. FYI , neither steelcity nor Ridgid are actually the ones making the saw, it is made by a different company and than rebranded as SC, Ridgid or Craftsman.

from the look of it the SC doesn’t have the mobile base the 4511 came with, but has a better blade guard that might actually prompt you to use it!

contact SC see how easy it would be to actually acquire this saw.

EDIT: actually after looking at it again, I think the cabinet is smaller. looks similar but not quite. they are all about the same though.

The saw is on amazon. With a note that it will ship once available. The steel city website states that it will be available by nov 1st. Who knows when it will actually be available. They never seem to cone out when they say they will.

I thought Steel City’s subsidiary, Orion International made all these granite top hybrids….am I wrong?

Looks like all companies bught the patents and adjusted the design.

The Sears granite top hybrid is the 22116, made by Steel City/Orion, and has a Biese clone fence and cabinet mounted trunnions. Pretty much the same saw as the Steel City 35930.

Thx I am seriously looking at that saw, 22116, but waiting for the price to come down to about 700.00 to 800.00, I would just need to get a mobil base for it.
