Topic tags/keywords: tablesaw milling question

I have recently purchased an older craftsmen TS model number 113.298240 it is belt driven driven with a broken hole where a new fence rail would go. I have found a 113.241691 direct drive TS that has nice cast iron wings. I like the belt driven body, can I change tops?

I don’t think you will get a definitive answer unless you happen to run across someone who has both saws to compare against. I doubt it would be an easy swap though, if at all possible – looking at the parts diagrams between the two, there is a lot of difference between the trunnions and how they mount to the tables, and the tables have different part numbers. But I’m sure it could be done with enough work and creative engineering :)

Manual for 113.298240
Manual for 113.241691

I think it would be easier just to try and fix the existing saw. Cast iron is easy to drill and tap, so you could just move the fence mounting hole over a bit. It might also be possible to fill with something like JB Weld and drill/tap, but it wouldn’t be as strong.

Cheers,
Brad

PS: It might be worth the effort just to get the flex drive model for the parts – depending on price.

Brad, Thank you so much! I might just have to buy the flex drive for the cast iron wings and try to upgrade to a delta T2 fence or something like that since it doesn’t line up with a 113. top anyway.

Have your say...
