I have the opportunity to buy either an all steel millers falls miter box or a cast iron one. They are roughly the same price. Is the steel one preferred over the cast iron one or vice versa? Or is there a preference on when they were built?

The other thing is on the cast iron miter box it appears the owner drilled holes in the back in order to screw a piece of mdf on the back. Are the holes something to be concerned about?
