I have made a Greene and Greene blanket chest for my daughter. The last step will be a dye stain application with a oil and urethane top coat.

I plan to to do two coats of dye stain and perhaps four top coats. The area for the lid, sides, ends and base, inside and out, measures about 7,000 sq. inches. or about 49 square feet.

The question is: 1) how much dye stain will I need?; and 2) how much top coat?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

One bottle of transtint will be more than enough to cover it with two coats.

Have your say...
