Good one Cliff, I remember reading the magazine as a youngun, certainly brings back some memories. Thanks for sharing. Blood hot weather done here mate but we have been lucky so far with fires.

Thanks Bob…I really enjoyed the Popular Mechanics Magazine and looked forward to reading about Gus’s Work Shop/Garage Adventures.

Good that you were lucky with fires. I heard on the news that the big fire was now out. Good news for the folk in that area.
Regards,

Cliff.

Cliff, I certainly do. We had those magazines right back from about (1948) in huge stacks. Even in the 70’s as a kid I used to read the old ones.

Anyone rememeber ‘Mimi’ ? Pop Mechanics or Pop Science, I’m not sure which. She used to show us how to do stuff in a little striped jumpsuit and red high heels. When I was young as a kid she was uh…. great.

Some time agoI wrote an article on Hollow Chisel Motricers but could not find any reference aanywhere as to what the cutter angle was supposed to be.

Believe it or not some time later I found the answer in a a popular Science magazine March 1945.
