Has anyone noticed the release date for the Shaper Origin has been moved out? The company has been quiet about it. ????

I ordered mine back in August of 2016; the release date was going to be Sept 2017. Just recently, they pushed the release/ship date out to Jan 2018. I think they even increased the price on this next batch.

They have a referral program and enough people have used my promo referral code that I’m only paying $99 for shipment. I really cannot complain about that part but I’m wondering if this is going to be vaporware. At least I’ve gotten nearly all of my investment back. (If you want to jump down the rabbit hole along with me, be sure to share you referral code all over YouTube.)

It looks to be a pretty neat machine. I’ve always wanted a CNC but I don’t have the room.

Anyone got any info from the grapevine?

Waiting for my toy. :(

Update : so the shaper folks noticed my post and cleared up something… The ship dates on the Origin seem to be based upon the current “batch”. Mine was due to ship in September of 2017 and according to them it still is. So I’m happy again and still cannot wait to get it.

My brother in law is in on the first group and mentioned the delay and the price increase too. He said he saw it on their web site. He has gotten a couple other friends on the despair list and his cost has gone down but not near what yours has. Wow.

It looks like they have two batches of pre-orders. The fist batch for $1699 is now due to ship end of October, about a month late. The second batch shipping has not changed, is still January 2018.

Shaper Origin is finally shipping!!! Still waiting for mine.

I got to test drive one at the Las Vegas Woodworking show in July. Very cool. It won a “best in show” type award.

For anyone that has anything negative to say about it, I’d challenge you to play with one five minutes and then not have a smile on your face and credit card in hand ready to buy one.

Finally a CNC machine that will fit in my shop that is also infinitely large. I was very close to getting a CNC but lacked the space. This is certainly a happy medium between space and capabilities. Certainly not something I want to use for 8 hours at a time but definitely capable of doing some near CNC work.

Still waiting for mine too…. ordered Aug 25, 2016.

I can’t find anything online to confirm they have shipped a single unit. Anyone actually got their hands on a production unit yet?

I ordered mine on Day 1. Aug 23, 2016, processed at 5:23 pm. I have not seen mine yet. They were supposed to ship in September. Then the end of October. Well its getting to be the end of November and I have still not received any shipping details. I even contacted Shaper last week about any possible shipping delays. They responded with the same party line response of they will be rolling shipping at the end of October, and they will continue to ship orders as they come off the production line. Well if my Day 1/Batch 1 order has not come off of the production line yet I expect we will all be seeing an announcement fairly soon about more delays. I’m just really disappointed about Shaper not being more transparent about what is really going on.

I understand, making and shipping a new product is hard… This is bleeding edge stuff. Good stuff.

Given the money and time (feeling they have been given both) yes you would think they would keep their stakeholders updated.

The projects must continue to wait!

Here was my response:

””I don’t have an exact shipping date for you, but we began our rolling shipping at the end of October, and we will continue to ship orders as they come off the production line. We will send you a tracking number as soon as your order is shipped.

If you haven’t done so yet, make sure you’ve updated your address here: preorder.shapertools.com/address.

-the Shaper Team”“

I’m sure they are trying to dodge announcing delays so they can keep presales up through the holiday.

Hi Yahl, have you received your origin yet?

I find it strange there are no customer unboxing videos/posts online.

Does anyone also think it is odd that they have a cap on the number units they are willing to produce per week? Why wouldn’t they beef up their production support temporarily to get over the hump?

It really makes me wonder if there are technical issues going on and they are not actually shipping real numbers yet. Maybe they need to get plastics tooling remade..? remaking circuit boards? Camera problems? All speculation.

I also wonder if the Chinese new year holiday is going to add yet another delay to batch 2 since the parts are probably made in China and then assembled in the US.

I have a friend on Instagram who had posted photos last week of his coming in.

I haven’t heard yet how it works though.

so, they ARE shipping units.. got mine today. I ordered about 1 week after it was announced.

First impression – although it has plenty of plastic it is appears to be really well built. Air cutting worked out of box… UI is simple and straightforward.

I made up some “dummy tape” for “air cutting” so I didn’t have to waste any tape while messing around:
