I am in the middle of building a wine rack out of kiln dried quarter sawn red oak. I have noticed minor checking occurring in one of the legs in the middle of the piece. I have a lot detail already in the leg set and if possible I want to salvage the piece because it is matched to the other 3. Can I:

1. Stop the checking

2. Suggestions on repairing the piece

Thanks,
