For those of us that are always trying to hone our skills, and using shop projects or similar to do the job, what’s your next skill builder / shop project?

Mine is a set of clamshell door cabinets, with pegboard panel inserts to store my small parts bins, as well as router bits, routing accessories, and measuring & marking tools.

The casework will be done with locking miters, dadoes, and will include smallish drawers for dovetail practice. The hinges will be mortised in. The entire cabinet will be made from plywood which will be edge banded, and peg board.

I have one in progress, that is a redo of a failed skill builder drill press table. (cutting dadoes with the router was a HUGE fail).

I would like to redo my workbench, but instead of the truss rod bolted base, I am VERY interested in designing / building a hardwood base (probably flat sawn oak) and using mortise and tenon.

Stuck in a rut here. Finishing a mystery fixture (not exactly a jig), and then have to finish the project table top, and then the miter arms on my super sled. Pretty boring plywood and MDF work. The only thing fun about it is the original design work.

I can hardly wait to get onto some real wood again.

going to make some storage boxes and tool holders for my metal tools. will probably use the router table for the joinery to finally initiate it’s setup.

Talk about boring, Jim. I’m going to build yet another bench with doors and drawers under. This one is to hold a SCMS.
All plywood and MDF…..maybe some oak trim on the front of the bench top. I’m having dreams (nightmares??) about pocket holes, drawer glide installation, and Formica. Simple, repetitive stuff. I’d rather build a pistol box!

I’ve got a couple that I want to do.

1) A tool chest
2) The shooting board featured in shopnotes recently
3) A folding table cart similar to http://lumberjocks.com/projects/19078
