Hi there, I just received a little pack of various types of hardwood and was wondering what exactly I have. Well, I know what I have, but don’t know which is which. The pack contains Ash, Cherry, Oak, Beech, Maple, Sapele, Wenge, Iroko and Zebrano.

So my untrained eye says (from left to right):

1. ?
2. ?
3. ?
4. Iroko
5. Zebrano
6. Sapele
7. Maple
8. Beech
9. Ash

But I’m really unsure and I don’t think I see any wenge here…

Can someone help me out? Cheers!

I agree with Ron on the ash, beech, maple, and oak. Not sure about the sapele and cherry. I don’t do exotics.

As to the cherry and sapele … I based my decision on the following end grain close-ups …
