Topic tags/keywords: call duck project

I am looking to make calls such as a duck call similar to this. http://www.outdoorsporting.com/family/9811/display.html
just a simple call, but am i able to make it entirly in the shop? or do i need outside peices. I’m not worried about shaping or fitting the sections together, but rather the reed and things that are inside. Has anyone made these or have plans so that i can make one without nothing other than wood. Thanks

Here’s an article about making a duck call and it mentions the reed, ect.

This article came from this search.

typically the reeds are very very thin and flexible to make the proper sound….also, they should be weather proof, so they don’t loose their sound. you might be surprised, but the moisture in your breath will freeze the reed in a call if the temps are below freezing…...just don’t think wood would be a good choice.
