I am nearly finished with a birds eye maple jewelry box for my oldest granddaughter. I built the drawer using 1/4” birds eye with mitered corners and a 1/4” bottom of veneered ply (my first veneer attempt). When fitting the drawer dividers, my measurements were apparently too close and one mitered corner came apart. I used Titebond II for the joints. How can I re-glue this with the minimal amount of space between the mitered corners? Would Titebond adhere to itself? I have some Old Brown Glue if that would work better. I will gladly listen to the wisdom of the masters.

I’m no master but PVA glues like tite bond do not adhere well to themselves. The OBG would be my choice but you have to get the TB2 off regardless.

1/4” sides with metered corners? That may be part of the problem. Those mitered joints are going to be pretty weak, no matter what kind of glue you use, unless I am not following what you are saying.

If you have something to heat up OBG you should give HHG a shot for small stuff like that. Works like a champ and holds good enough to work it 15-20 min.

Thanks guys. I used 1/4” to maximize the dividers as it’s a small drawer (12”x6”). I’m not not familiar with HHG, can you tell me what it is and how to use it?

after you fix the miter joint, strengthening with a couple splines will be a good choice.

Animal glues can stick to just about anything but I’m the wrong one to ask if it will stick to pva.

HHG. Works the same as OBG but the gel time is a lot shorter if precautions aren’t taken. I don’t mind especially for small items.

It allows me to clean it up and work it without any problems in a very short amount of time.

Fellow LJ Shipwright has many blogs and projects involving HHG. He is a big proponent of it. I would recommend checking his work out whether or not you are interested In going further into HHG.
