I own an 18” bandsaw made by some factory in Taiwan and the Reliant Logo was put on it. I got it from the old “Trendlines” Catalogue. That was back in 1986. It has been working ever since. I put some carter bearings on it and made my own fence as upgrades but other than that it just chugs along. Anyone else have or had a reliant tool? What was your experience with it? I paid 347.86 dollars for it new back then and that included shipping.

I have two Reliant shapers that I have had for over 20 years. They have been great with no problems.

Yes I think they were the precursors to Grizzly and Jet and such.

I had one of their 12” lunchbox planers for several years. It was okay, nothing special, but no worse than most others.

I had a Reliant Tools 14” bandsaw I bought from Woodworker’s Warehouse, a great chain of stores in the northeast that went broke around 2003. The bandsaw quality was as good as most of the imports. I miss that store but not the bandsaw.

I was gonna mention Woodworker’s Warehouse. Bought a few things there and it was sad when they disappeared but Harbor Freight fills the void (sort of).

I also had the Reliant 14” from Woodworker’s Warehouse. Bought mine in Greensburg, PA before they went bust. Kept that for over ten years, did the bearing upgrades. and for some stupid reason thought that the Delta that Lowe’s sells would be a better saw, so sold the Reliant and bought the Delta.
The Delta lasted less than two years in my shop before I could not take it anymore, and finally sold it on CL and popped for a Powermatic.
