I would like people’s advice about the various sites that allow free photo storage. As I begin blogging projects I would like to share my photos but I’m not familiar with places like flickr.com or photobucket.com. What are your opinions about these sites and do you have suggestions for other sites? Thank you.

The ones you mentioned don’t store your images they all have viewing programs. If you want your photos in safe storage you have to go to a program like Photosite which has a photo vault for safe storage.
This site has an annual fee. I recently installed picasa.

Dick,

What do you mean when you say that they all have viewing programs? I’m assuming I can save my pictures onto their website and then in my blog entries, create links to those pictures. Is that correct? What do you mean by safe storage? Thank you.

That’s in case your computer crashed. Your images are stored on their server. It’s like insurance. I have Photosite mainly for that.

But aren’t the images stored on flickr and photobucket? Won’t I still have access to them?

Zooomr is great too.. thanks for sharing the info Frank. I will need to explore their API in the future and possibly work on tighter integration with our site.
