The Festool Pro 5 sander showed up today. I’m glad it hooks up to my Rockler dust hose and vac.

Chuck, what caused you to buy a Festool sander rather than another (cheaper) brand? Do you do a lot of sanding?

It was a promotion that Festool had about 5 months ago. It was a $195 sander for $99 shipped. It’s probably the only Festool I can afford. Lol. There was a huge demand for this promo and it caused a big delay for quite a few of us. I have other sanders, but I thought I’d try it since it was a great deal.

CONGRADS

I’ve had mine for a few months now and just used it to sand some interior cabinets I’ve been ignoring in the bathroom. I ran it off a twenty foot hose to my Dust Deputy, sitting in front of a 2-1/2 gallon Ridged vac. It was so nice not having any dust to deal with (wiped a tissue across the counter top and go no dust).

I made the plunge and stepped beyond what came with the sander. I bought some fifty and hundred packs of Granat 40, 80, 120 and 180, as well as a fifty of the red stuff. It’s kind of my incentive to start looking at redeeming that coupon on a Rotex 125.

Yesterday, I sanded a REALLY crappy piece of ply. I did a lot of it with 120, a lot of it with just 80, and a bunch with 40 followed by 80 and was happy with the results from all three. As much as anything, credit goes to Granat sandpaper, but the dust collection is what keeps the Granat going.

All this makes me think there may be something to all the bragging others do about the [FAR] more expensive Festool sanders.

Thanks for allowing me to see what I’ll get someday…I should get mine in 2 or 3 weeks. I ordered some sandpaper with the sander and they sent that in Nov. It is collecting dust…
