I see a lot of people asking about wood hardeners etc so I thought I wood pass along what I have recently experienced.
On the TurnTex website under Q&A, Curtis mentions that a person can soak a piece of wood in Cactus Juice (w/o the vacuum part) for about a week before cooking and it will still do a pretty good job of stabilizing it. Better than MinWax Wood Hardener.
Since I’ve tried the MinWax stuff with not so good results I thought I would give the Cactus Juice a try.
It worked pretty good. It definitely added a lot of weight to each piece anyway.
I ran each piece in the toaster oven at 220 degrees for overnight before soaking for 4 days. One thin piece 1/4” (not pictured) warped when I heated it so maybe a little thicker is better. I cooked them for 3 hours at 200 degrees after soaking.
