I bought some lumber from a local sawyer and he said the species was Blue Ash. I tried planing it and had a hard time. I then planed regular white ash, which planed easier. I always thought white ash was the hardest of the ashes. Has anybody worked with Blue Ash and what do you use it for other than for firewood?

I have not tried to work blue ash with hand tools, but know it is quite abit harder than white ash. 2030 on the Janka hardeness scale compared to 1320 for white ash.
