I have been offered either of these, for my light use weekend type woodworking shop… but which is best? I want to attach for use (only one at a time “on” of course) a router, 1 or 2 saws , etc., and maybe, someday, some how, a planer (to do shelving and cabinet door type work). Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. thank you!

The Jet has a 12” impeller and twice the HP, so will move considerably more air. The Jet’s filtration rating is a mediocre 30 microns which would benefit from an upgrade. Did you notice that the Jet requires 220v operation? If you’ve got that covered, there’s little question that it’s a more substantial DC unit than that particular Shop Fox.

The Shop Fox only has a 9” impeller and a 1hp rating, and will move proportionately less air. There’s no filtration rating on the SF bags though…

If you have 220V in your shop, grab the Jet, toss the bags and upgrade to something like a Wynn canister filter, or at least a 1 micron bag / plastic lower bag setup… Your lungs will appreciate the difference in capacity.

thanks guys—I aw and still find nothing on the impellers on either web site…so this is the info I need—220 is in the shop…....I will upgrade to a better micron filter…...One other question if I may…what is the liely max length I can draw from via pvc piping from saw to vac????

—buy the way-I really am allergic to pine trees and thus pine wood dust—so ( of course) what is my hobby of choice? You should not see me with face masks on and a sneezing fit.

thanks!!

Both of these are manufactured in same factory.
I have the same collector as the ShopFox 1 HP W1727 dust collector, but in Grizzly paint with canister.(G0583Z)
If I did it again I would get a 2 HP collector.

Have your say...
