Help needed on primitive table

So, as most of you know. I’m new & just learning as I’m going. I’m really into the rustic look. I’m building a couple farm house table out of my barnwood. I’m using hemlock post for the legs. Anyway, I’m really wanting to try to mimick the old hand hewn look & just curious as to the best way to achieve this look without removing the age & patina of these posts.

Draw knife.
You might have to treat fresh cut with aging solution. “Vinegar-steel wool mixture”
For my tops Ive made a special blade in #5 hand plane.
I make diagonal passes and i

t gives this effect !
You can do this with scrub plane as well !
