So I’ve been thinking to do some wood work, since I have good interest in this field! I’ll say it quick. I have a table which is currently used for studies. The table is made of a wooden plank supported on a metal frame. The dimensions of the plank are: 35×23.5 inches and the dimensions of the table are:
H-30 inches
L-30 inches
W-18 inches
The table somewhat looks like this(drew using MS-paint so not according to scale :p)

The plank is fixed to the metal frame by screw drilled through the metal frame.

Instead of making something else, like a box(my first project), I thought of making a set of drawers for this table. The drawers shall be right below the plank and there will be two drawers separated by each other in the vertical axis. The table after this project is complete looks like this in my imagination:

However, I have no idea how to do it. So if someone could guide me through this, I’d be thankful ^_^
My basic doubts are:
1. Is this even possible?
2. What tools do I need?
3. What do I start off with?
4. (To be added/edited later)

-- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

I just looked at the ‘Unanswered Topics in Designing Woodworking Projects’ and saw that it has been 110 days that you posted your question with no responce.
After reading your ‘home’ page, it looks like you have very little background in wood working. This may be the reason that most of the LumberJocks have not taken the time to respond to your question of adding drawers to this table. Adding drawers takes additional skil than just some basic knowledge of woodworking. I do not want to discourage you to the point of giving up doing any woodworking at all, but I do think you need to start out with simple woodworking projects before taking on this project. You stated that you made a ‘first aid box without a lid’. This is a good start and is what is required to make drawers, but if the box is not square, then the drawers will never work right. This is just one of many basic of woodworking. It takes time. Keep at it. The more you learn, the more you will enjoy woodworking.
