Topic tags/keywords: shop fox jointer delta x5 w1745w

Hi all,

I’m looking for a decent jointer and having a hard time on which to buy.
Found someone selling a 6” Shop Fox W1745W for 425$ said he’d take less, cash talks.

Also found a Delta X5 for 300$ waiting on a call’s quite further than the Shop Fox but not a problem.

Thanks for looking.

Having used both, I would take the Delta over the Shop Fox. There isn’t much difference though, but place a long straight edge across the tables to make certain that the tables are flat with each other. Raise them slightly above the cutter to do this. If either has a segmented cutter, that would be my first choice. Also, run a ew test cuts to make certain that your choice runs and cuts well. To me, both are asking high end money for these, so if you find anything at all not right, the price should be lowered.

I leaning more toward the Delta, not only because of price but the Shop Fox looks like someone spilled acid on it. I’ve never seen paint peel there or in that manner. I would think you could get the Delta for just a little less money to make it a good deal, the Shop Fox is over priced even in better condition than it’s in.

honestly any use straight knife 6” jointer over $200 (except something like the Powermatic 54HH) is priced too high. I got my 8” grizzly for $325. If you are looking at used for $400 I would just spend the extra coin for new.

here’s a good deal.

Sorry I hate it when people are to stupid to remove the post when something is sold.
