Od wood identification, or maybe not?

It looks like box elder.

I would also choose box elder. If I recall correctly, I read that box elder is a member of the maple family. Softer, though.

Thanks for the input, And I now believe it to be box alder. It should make for some good wood turnings and accent pieces.
