I first thought this tree to be Ash, then I looked closer at the leaves and noticed they were different than an ash tree. And when i cut into it, It had some crazy red streaks in it. Some parts are rotted out in the center and that is usually where the reddness is near. Any ideas on what it may be? Located in SW Minnesota, if that helps at all.

Thanks for your help

I would also choose box elder. If I recall correctly, I read that box elder is a member of the maple family. Softer, though.

Thanks for the input, And I now believe it to be box alder. It should make for some good wood turnings and accent pieces.
