Hey All, Anyone have some good bloodwood laying around you’d like to get rid of?You know, the nice dark red stuff. I can do some lumber swapping or buy outright. I’m tired of buying online and getting barely red or worst yet nasty pink stripy stuff and paying way too much for it. thanks mike

Hey there,

Not sure where exactly in MD you are, but I’ve bought bloodwood from Vienna Hardwoods in Vienna, VA on several occasions and have been very please with the quality. If No. VA isn’t too far, I’d recommend calling to see if they have the amount you need and then checking it out.

See the top and banding on the jewelry box in my projects section.

Thanks. A bit too far to travel for 10 to 20 bd ft .

Try Bell Forest products. I’ve gotten some nice lumber from them, and they ship. Depending on the amount you need, it might be worth it. They’re very helpful and will answer emails if you have questions.

I’ll look in my stash and see if there’s any Bloodwood I can force myself to part with. I’ll let you know if I do, although I don’t have anywhere near 10 or 20 bd ft of it.

I just saw the only two pieces of bloodwood I have in my shop…
Sorry, I don’t think I can part with ‘em. They’re only 1” x 4” x 30” each anyway. I’ll probably use them for some cool guitar necks someday. I’ll keep in mind the swappin’ idea. Depending on my mood, I could possibly be persuaded to do a ‘you-ship-me-yours-&-I’ll-ship-you-mine’ sort of swap one day. It keeps jobs for UPS and FedEx workers.

I hope you find what you need.

thanks anyway. I ordered 6.5 bd ft from groff and groff. Paid through the nose. One piece 4” x 3’ had 1/2 in. rack. stuff isn’t red, which he said it was rich dark red. Oh well screwed again. I give up. mike

That’s great news. I’m glad you didn’t give up. The mail order guys really need to perform to a higher level than the rest. Especially if they want others to take a chance by purchasing sight unseen.
