Was perusing the site (as I usually do most days) and came across the “being blocked” thread in the Coffee Lounge, and it got me to thinking in a slightly different direction…
Most blogs allow you to sort via topic, which the author sets as part of their posting process. Wouldn’t be nice, if Lumberjocks blogs were posted with a category, that way, if someone has little or no interest in a given subject, they could set their preferences to not display those types of posts on the front page? Say, for instance, I’m not much interested in turning, or bandsaw boxes, or posts about tablesaws. I simply use my filtering to turn off those types of blog posts from the front page. Of course, you’d probably want a page in your profile to be able to view a summary of filtered blog entries, so in case something interesting does come up, you don’t have to change your profile settings for the sake of one or two articles.
This wouldn’t be as heavy-handed as a blocked user and wouldn’t stop you from interacting with anyone.
Might also be useful for project postings as well, or maybe reviews.
Dunno, just asking. And yea, I imagine it would be a royal pain to try and go back through all past postings and assign them a category… ergh.
