Topic tags/keywords: bandsaw customer service

Ten days ago, I was ranting about a quality control problem that I discovered with my new Jet 14” band saw ( ). It was a problem with a stripped screw in a casting.

Today, I’m here to tell you that Jet stepped up to the plate and is making things right with me.

I contacted their customer service department, and today got a very nice reply from Debbie Sons of Walter Meier Manufacturing’s Internet Customer Support. She apologized for the inconvenience and informed me that this problem was being brought to the attention of their Technical Support Manager.

They very graciously offered me a pair of very nice clamps for my trouble, and I have (humbly) accepted their offer.

A lot of companies would just blow off a complaint like the one I registered. Kudos to Jet and Walter Meier Manufacturing for taking the time to listen and respond.

Why can’t Delta do this sort of thing… For me its: “You have a problem with your bandbra?” (In fake Indian/Chinese accent).. “Im sorry sir, we don’t manufacure bras here”.. “Ohh… you say sand saw…” “Ahh I see” “Have you tried calling your phactoy pervets centre?” “Oh I see.. they Fall River…They Fall in River!.... oh we have to find another one then…” And the list goes on and on…

Not even a constilation prize for me…. no clamps.. no free blade… just hours on the phone with Wong and his family…

I’m done with them. I was a big fan of Jet / Powermatic. Not anymore.

They did try to make things right. It was just too many times. The worst was waiting 5 months to get a sale item delivered. I was offered some parallel clamps for my inconvenience, I declined. All I wanted was what I paid for.

I had problems with a lathe, and talked to a tech. Maybe he was having a bad day, but I didn’t like the treatment I received.

Their customer service is courteous and professional, and I was too in all my dealings with them. When everything I buy requires a call to customer service, it’s time to shop somewhere else.

Nice to hear that. Too bad they don’t make a planer in my size range.

Before I bought my JET lathe (JWL-1220vs) one year ago, I needed some information to design a stand for it.
I contacted JET, and a tech called me. He really answered all my questions and made some excellent suggestions.

Dane, I’m curious. Did you contact Jet’s customer service before posting the original rant?

No … I posted the rant, and wrote the email to them the same evening. I don’t know if they saw the rant or not, but the email had the same details (sans oictures).
